Our History

Michael S. Schweitzer started Ram Computer Supply in 1983 with a business card and a dream to provide his customers with the highest level of service.

With an unstoppable entrepreneurial drive, a vision, and with the effort of loyal employees, RAM grew organically, through acquisition, and by differentiating itself from its competitors. Today, Michael Schweitzer’s Ram Computer Supply is a multimillion dollar company.

Michael S. Schweitzer passed away suddenly of a stroke in the early morning on Sunday, May 4th, 2003 at the age of 61.

Born April 26th, 1942 in Bronx, New York, Michael attended the City College of New York and later graduated in 1968 with a MBA from the Harvard Business School. He held several high-level positions with large restaurant companies in the United States before traveling to Canada in the late 1970’s to assume the Presidency of the restaurant division of General Foods International where he was responsible for over 700 restaurants. He was also a restaurant critic and wrote a regular column evaluating restaurants across the United States for Nations Restaurant News.

In the early 1980’s, Michael saw the potential for explosive growth in the area of Information Technology, and started RAM Computer Supply with the single mandate to provide the highest level of customer service. Over the years, the company has been recognized many times, notably as a three-time winner of the Financial Post’s “50 Best Managed Companies” award.
